CBK data shows 788,853 deposit accounts held at least KSh500,000 at the end of 2025, a 5.65 per cent increase from the previous year

The number of deposit accounts in Kenya holding at least KSh500,000 rose to 788,853 by December 2025, according to the Central Bank of Kenya’s (CBK) Bank Supervision Annual Report 2025.
The figure increased from 746,665 accounts in December 2024, representing a year-on-year rise of 42,188 accounts, or approximately 5.65 per cent. The latest total includes accounts held at both commercial banks and microfinance banks.
